Flower Workshop
Olson Room | 10 am
INTRODUCTION TO IKEBANA: the centuries old Japanese art form of floral design which bring nature and humanity together through floral arranging.
Space, shape, graceful lines and form play an important part of Ikebana. It is inspiring and requires simplicity and allows you to focus on the flowers and leaves. It allows for quiet reflection to appreciate and connect with nature. Less is more and the use of seasonal flowers is very important.
What to bring?
The "vase" can be a flat dish with up to 4" sides in ceramics or a ceramic vase. Look at your dishes for the shape needed. Bring a flower frog to hold your flowers. Pick interesting leaves in your garden to bring. Two or three beautiful flowers, some interesting branches with movement. Remember you only need a few flowers to make these designs. Scissors too! I will bring some greens for your designs to give you some balance.
