Alix began sailing when she was 11 years old at Shrewsbury Sailing and Yacht Club. She sailed Opti's and 420's as a junior sailor, and then went on to sail for Providence College, which she absolutely loved.
Alix began coaching at BHYC in 2010 after her freshman year in college. She instructed the intermediate class for two years before becoming the Greenie Director for another two years. Alix took a break from coaching and went and pursued a masters in applied behavioral analysis. She returned to BHYC in 2018 as the Junior Program Director. This will be her 5th summer as the Junior Program Director!
The most important thing for BHYC Junior sailors to learn is self-confidence and independence. Sailing is not an easy sport and the wind conditions play a major role in that.
